Rising Southpaw junior welterweight (140 pounds) “Vicious” Victor Ortiz (pictured at right) was literally a big hit recently at the Club Nokia at LA Live in Los Angeles, scoring a 10th-round knockout over Hector Alatorre in the main event of a Golden Boy Promotions’ Fight Night Club show.
In victory, the 23-year-old Ortiz rose to 26-2-1, with 21 KOs, setting up a May 15 clash with 37-year-old former world champ, Nate Campbell (33-5-1, 25 KOs) — this on the uncdercard of a main event featuring England’s 23-year-old, WBA junior welterweight king, Amir Khan (22-1, 16 KOs), in defense of his title against New York’s 29-year-old Paulie Malignaggi (27-3, five KOs) at The WaMu Theatre in New York’s Madison Square Garden.
FanHouse caught up to Ortiz that night, along with Godlen Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, boxing fans and Ortiz’s manager, Rolando Arellano, who told Khan, “We’re coming for your a**.”
